COMPONENT SOURCING
Build your sourcing request around the movement your robot needs to achieve. Explore integrated actuators, joint modules, reducers, bearings, and transmission components for new builds, upgrades, and replacement projects.
COMPONENT OPTIONS
Explore Motion Components
Integrated Actuators & Joint Modules
Outline the joint function and whether you need an integrated assembly or separate motor, drive, and transmission components. Include feedback, braking, and cable-routing requirements in the brief.
Gear Reducers & Transmissions
Share the desired ratio, output loads, motion profile, and space constraints. Add requirements for backlash, stiffness, service life, and maintenance where these are defined by the project.
Bearings & Mechanical Interfaces
Provide drawings for the mounting arrangement, supported loads, and interfaces to adjacent components. Include shafts, flanges, fasteners, and any constraints on changing the current assembly.

What to Compare Before You Source
Use the requirements below to make supplier discussions more focused and compare options against the same brief.
Define loads and motion
Provide continuous and peak requirements together with the movement profile. Include the load orientation and the operating cycle rather than relying on a single maximum rating.
Document the physical envelope
Supply available dimensions, mounting patterns, output interfaces, cable paths, and mass limits. Drawings make it easier to identify integration issues early.
Specify feedback and control
Describe the controller, communication interface, supply voltage, and required feedback. Note any project requirements for holding position or handling power loss.
Describe the operating conditions
List temperature, vibration, contamination, maintenance access, and intended duty cycle. Identify what needs validation during prototyping before a larger sourcing decision.
YOUR NEXT STEP
Build Your Sourcing Brief
A useful request connects the component to the job it needs to do. Include what you know and flag the requirements you are still defining.
- Assembly drawings or an existing part reference
- Continuous and peak torque, speed, and load targets
- Voltage, controls, feedback, and connector requirements
- Prototype quantity, expected volume, and project timing
COMMON QUESTIONS
Robot Actuators, Joints & Motion Components FAQs
Should I request an integrated actuator or separate components?
Describe how much of the joint design is already fixed. An integrated module and a set of separate components create different mechanical and control integration tasks. The request should make those responsibilities clear.
Can I source a replacement joint component?
Provide the existing datasheet, drawings, operating conditions, and failure or replacement context. Note which interfaces must remain unchanged and which can be adapted.
Which torque value should I include?
Include the continuous requirement, expected peaks, and the duration and frequency of those peaks. Add the motion profile and any available engineering calculations so the request is more specific than a single torque figure.
